The pH scale ranges from 0-14 with 7 being neutral. Although there are different organs in the body that require different pH levels, the blood needs to maintain around a 7.4. If the pH of the blood drops below this level shock & death could occur. As the body tries to maintain this level of alkalinity in the blood, eating excessively acidic foods jeopardizes this process.
