Get Into Alignment: Understanding & Balancing Your Chakras

By Stephanie Poliard | Infinite Wholistics

What Are Chakras?

Chakras are part of the human energy system. They act as spinning discs of light or energy, with 7 main chakras located along the spine and 114 in total. The lower two chakras (root & sacral) spin counterclockwise, while the upper five (solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, & crown) spin clockwise. These whirling vortices maintain energy flow throughout your body, and their proper movement is crucial for overall health.

Over time, life experiences such as trauma, environmental exposure, and daily habits can disrupt or block these energy centers. Most people experience issues with at least one or two chakras, but sometimes, all can become imbalanced. When this happens, you may face physical, mental, and emotional challenges that traditional medicine often struggles to resolve.

How Chakras Process Emotions

Chakras receive information through pure consciousness. Thoughts produce emotions, which enter the body through the chakras. From there, the meridians distribute this information to the organs and systems connected to each chakra.

For example, fear enters through the sacral chakra (2nd chakra) and undergoes chemical processing. The meridians then distribute the emotion to areas governed by the sacral chakra, such as the small intestine, appendix, genitals, rectum, hips, and large intestine. This explains why fear can cause digestive upset or tense muscles in these areas.

Chakras function like communication receivers, gathering information for the body and passing it to the meridians. They don't possess spiritual power themselves but serve as channels for processing and relaying information throughout the body.

Signs of Imbalanced Chakras

  • 🔺 Root Chakra: Anxiety, insecurity, lower back pain, leg pain.
  • 🔺 Sacral Chakra: Emotional instability, lack of creativity, sexual dysfunction, digestive issues.
  • 🔺 Solar Plexus Chakra: Low confidence, poor self-esteem, digestive problems, fatigue.
  • 🔺 Heart Chakra: Lack of empathy, anger, heart issues, troubled relationships.
  • 🔺 Throat Chakra: Difficulty expressing yourself, throat discomfort, poor communication.
  • 🔺 Third Eye Chakra: Poor intuition, lack of focus, headaches, mood swings.
  • 🔺 Crown Chakra: Feeling disconnected, depression, confusion, headaches.
